Playland-Not-at-the-Beach's Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program is a great
way for youth ages 14 and older to learn responsibility, leadership, and
interpersonal skills. CITs are neither paid staff nor do they pay to attend
a CIT session; they are volunteering to help Playland's Magic Camp Teachers
and Staff Members. Though CITs will often be expected to work on their own,
they will be supervised by Playland Staff.
CITs are directly responsible for Camper Free Play time: CITs will be supervising campers, running carnival games, supervising lunch, and insuring the safety of the campers and facility. CITs will also be expected to help maintain the facility including light cleaning, restocking of the bathroom supplies, and administrative needs. CITs may also be asked to help with Magic Camp itself by assisting with the supervision of campers or helping with art projects or other duties as assigned. CITs will receive breaks during Magic Camp 9:00am and 1:00pm when campers are in training sessions. During breaks CITs are welcome to play games, have snacks or lunch, or help with upcoming Playland or Magic Camp projects. CITs are not authorized to leave Playland at any time. CITs are asked not to use their cell phones or other electronic devices (including Playland's computers) while at Playland-Not-at-the-Beach. Being a Counselor-In-Training is a great way to demonstrate a youth's initiative, responsibility, interpersonal skills and ability to follow instructions. CITs may list their volunteer time on job resumes, college applications, and scholarship applications and are welcome to list Playland Staff as references. Being a CIT is a fun and exciting summer activity. Apply today!
